Impatience

I used to enjoy reading Andrew Sullivan but lately I wonder what has come over him. Maybe he is grumpy that Kerry has fallen so badly after jumping on his bandwagon over the summer. For instance today he trashes Bush’s handling of the reconstruction in Iraq. As if Bush can wave a magic wand and make everything better. He chastises the Bush camp for being more focused on what happened 30 years ago with regards to his National Guard service records than to the current situation. But he fails to mention the fact that the Bush camp is not the ones who decided to base the campaign on what happened in the past. The Kerry camp started this whole nonsense by trying to portray Kerry as a Vietnam era war hero who would do a better job than Bush. Of course the fact that neither Kerry nor Sullivan has any kind of plan for Iraq shouldn’t matter. The only thing they both know that Bush is screwing it up somehow. I am not sure if it was Sullivan who mentioned that Bush has a better plan for his reelection that he did for post war Iraq. Of course he has a better plan for his reelection due to the fact that he has a lot more control over various aspects of it. Bush needs to focus on the short term problem of getting reelected before being able to worry about the longer term issues in Iraq.
